Our workshop supervisor Lee Stott hits the mud!

July 8th, 2021

Boltby bash was at the weekend. My first foray into an mtb enduro race, and it was an experience. We had sun, rain, midges, flys and mosquitoes,
Practice on the Saturday was good, too much uphill for my liking with having to do sneck yat bank which was horrible. The stages were really good, very steep and loamy with a healthy mix of clay/ mud. Stage 4 was ok until half way down and my tyres were just encased in mud with no grip at all which saw me standing by the side of the track with a stick cleaning my front tyre out just to get me to the bottom. Stage 5 was a mixture of loam, steep corners and lots of roots dissecting corners and a little bit of mud, with a fast blast to the end it was all over. It was an experience which will be replicated next year when I take part in the enduro part of it instead of the sportive,
Esk valley enduro over near whitby in a few weeks so that's to look forward to, 20 mile and 5000ft of climbing.
