This 1994 handbuilt Steel Caygill 531 road bike was donated to us about a year and a half ago by a good customer of ours. He said if we can do anything with it would we be so kind as to donate some money to a local charity.
Shortly after the bike was donated to us, another good customer of ours was fancying buying a new handbuilt Caygill Steel road bike and he asked us to quote for this. I told him we'd just had a customer donate such a thing, although it was very tired and in need of a full renovation and respray. He spent some time thinking on what to do and then asked us to go ahead with the renovation.
The bike was stripped and all original parts sold on to raise funds for charity by Tony Oliver - with personal contribution to round it up to £250 which was handed to Jill Armsrong from the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team by Scott Caygill.

Top tube dent filled.
Chain pip and under BB cable guides removed.
Seat tube bottle cage bosses and number hanger added.
BB shell drilled and tapped for cable guide skid.
Braze on hanger added for front mech

Group set and wheels sourced over time. Full matching veloce 9 spd with some NOS parts. Rare & Mint silver spoke electron clinchers.
Old Elite stainless tube bottle cages found on ebay.
