A poem by local writer Mark Cooper

July 6th, 2019

I went to Arthur Caygill’s

To get a shiny new bike

Had a chat with Scott

Telling him roughly what id like

I then told him my budget

About fifteen hundred pounds

He stroked his chin

And made ‘man thinking’ sounds

To cut a long story short

(Someone shouts ‘too late’)

I ended up an aluminium hybrid

Which I think is great

And it cost UNDER my budget

By five hundred quid

Making me wonder if Scott

Really is a Yorkshire kid
